Benteng tersebut terletak pada percabangan SUNGAI MADIUN dan SUNGAI BENGAWAN SOLO, yang menurut cerita digunakan sebagai tempat pos pemantauan transportasi barat pada waktu peperangan kemerdekaan dan juga sebagai tempat untuk memata-matai. Benteng ini terdapat di tengah kota NGAWI, tetapi untuk saat ini dan sebelumnya BENTENG ini tidak dapat dikunjungi dikarenakan lokasi benteng tersebut yang berada didalam kompleks ABRI sehingga bisa disebut sebagai daerah yang terlarang untuk dikunjugi bagi warga sipil. Padahal apabila digunakan sebagai obyek wisata, maka akan meyedot animo warga yang sering sliwar-sliwer lewat NGAWI.
